Oct 5, 2004 Fitness Gyms For Women – Places Of Sanity And Rejuvenation
Fitness gyms for women have grown in popularity over the last few years for a variety of reasons. These facilities finally provide a place where women don’t feel intimidated, can make friends with other women, and can work out all their stress before heading home to attend to a busy family. They are a place of sanity and rejuvenation. Popular for many decades has been the “men’s club”. Places where men can be men – discuss their “manly” topics, and be “free” of their women for a few hours. Well, women have finally caught up and we too have a place where we can be free of men and have our “womanly” conversations. Finding a fitness gym for women is now easier than ever! When it comes to exercising, many women prefer to exercise in a women’s only gym. Some women may feel uncomfortable working out with men, while other women may suffer from physique anxiety, whereby they are anxious about their body, its appearance, and how others might react to it. A gym for women helps ease these insecurities by providing an environment where women don’t feel pressured, or ‘observed’. Furthermore, many women, especially more mature or larger framed girls, feel more comfortable working out among women. This type of setting may seem more supportive, thereby making it easier for them to become physically fit. Personal Trainers And Circuit Training Such As Curves InternationalToday, there are definitely women that can match the strength of men; however, some of these women may feel more comfortable using fitness equipment geared specifically to women. Sometimes working out in a womans gym has its advantages because weights go up in smaller increments and are more suited to a smaller body frame. Some gyms now also offer personal trainers and circuit training for maximum physical fitness. One brand name that we like to recommend is Curves International; curves gyms for women. These types of gyms often offer excellent info of sports nutrition education, athlete nutrition and strength training and sport injury prevention specific to women. There are many women who probably wouldn’t work out if it weren’t for a women’s only gyms. Single-sex facilities provide women the option to work out in an environment that offers them a sense of privacy and space that would otherwise be taken up by men. Most of these women do not choose a single-sex fitness facility because they want to exclude men, but it’s more an issue of insecurity and feeling as though they are not being judged. Besides, it’s about time there is a place where women can go and sweat out all their stress, which is often induced by men! (Just kidding…hmmmmm) About The Author: By: Angela Lanci Zaurrini |
