Feb 7, 2005 Adjustable Dumbbells – Your Ticket To A Good Workout
Adjustable dumbbells allow you to easily select the proper weight for a particular exercise. Dumbbells are great for sculpting muscles and building up stamina and with an adjustable dumbbell you can easily add or subtract weight to meet your changing needs. How do you know what is the correct weight? If you work through a set and find you still have lots of strength, you should adjust the dumbbells by adding a bit more weight. On the other hand, if you find yourself unable to finish a set, you know it’s time to take off a few pounds from your dumbbells. If you are doing front dumbbell raises for example, start off light – maybe with a 3lb pair. If you can do 10 or 12 raises without any problem, work up to the next set of dumbbell weights – maybe the 5lb pair. Give yourself a rest between each set – 30 to 60 seconds is ideal, and then start after adding more weight to the dumbbells. Get A Measured WorkoutDumbbell raises are great for developing the deltoids and trapezius muscles. They can be done one arm at a time or both together. Using dumbbells which are adjustable allow you to get the perfect workout. When you buy a set of dumbbells, adjustable sets should come with a good weight range. They can range from a 3lb pair up to 50lb weights. Look for a set which is easy to adjust – you don’t want to spend a lot of time changing the weights. Dumbbells are great for all kinds of weight training, and adjustable or quick change dumbbells allow you to gradually increase your weightlifting capacity.
