Weight Lifting Books – Which One Is Right For You?

There are literally hundreds of exercise manuals on the market today. Weight lifting books are extremely easy to come by, but finding a good weight lifting book is another story. Whether you are looking to tone, gain muscle, or lose weight, there is a book that is bound to promise you the results you are desperately seeking.

A simple search for weight lifting guides, books, or e-books, will result in hundreds of websites attempting to bait you into buying their products. And even though I am an eternal optimist who likes to believe that every book has at least some valuable information embedded somewhere within its pages, the sad truth remains - that a lot of what’s out there is garbage.

Sifting Through The Garbage – Finding The Right Weight Lifting Guide

If you take the time to read the biographies of the individuals who write weightlifting books you will notice that their expertise varies. Some of the authors are personal trainers who promise that their exercises and routines will get you buff and trim in no time, while other authors range from former bodybuilders to current bodybuilders, doctors and fitness experts.

In order to ensure that the information you’re purchasing is written by someone who actually knows what they’re talking about, do some research on the author and ask other weight lifters if they’ve heard of him/her. Also, read consumer and editorial reviews on the books you’re interested in purchasing. Some body building websites will only endorse books by reputable sources, so spend some time looking at weight lifting websites to see what books they recommend. Eventually, you will start to notice a trend in the products being recommended by other fitness experts.

Currently, there are a few books that are considered to be exceptional when it comes to weight lifting guides, routines and workouts. “Getting Stronger: The Revised Edition”, by Bill Pearl, is one such book. It is a new and improved version of “Getting Stronger”, the original guide to weight lifting. As a former bodybuilder, and four-time Mr. Universe, Bill Pearl is a respected and trusted figure in the world of bodybuilding. His advice and expertise helped him sell over 550,000 copies of his first book and his second book stands to sell just as many, if not more.

What makes “Getting Stronger” a popular choice for weight lifters is the comprehensive list of exercises (350 with clear instructions), 70+ weight training programs, inclusion of women’s bodybuilding, suggested websites and links for further information, reviews of all drugs and supplements, recommended readings, rehab programs for injuries and the latest information on training concepts and principles. Essentially, this book provides insightful information that is clear, concise and easy to read.

Other authors that we like to recommend are Will Brink who has authored such books as: “Priming The Anabolic Environment”; “All Stars Trainer’s”; “Weight Loss Nutrients Revealed”; “Muscle Building Nutrition Guide”; and the “Diet Supplements Revealed” guide, and Pete Sisco who has authored “Power Factor Training”.

Different people look for different things when they go to purchase a book. When purchasing a book on weightlifting it is important that the information be clearly laid out and be easy to follow. It is also important that it provide a variety of exercises and routines that can be used interchangeably so that you get the most out of your training.

Furthermore, goods book or weight lifting guides will not only educate, but will entertain as well. Finding literature on weightlifting that is easy to follow, but encompasses all the essential elements to working out in a neat and concise manner, is not difficult if you spend the time to get to know your authors.
