Weight Lifting Nutrition – A Simple Plan That Builds Muscles

Weight lifting nutrition is an often overlooked, yet crucial aspect of any weight lifting routine. Proper nutrition is essential in building muscle strength, yet not all foods and diets will help you achieve this goal; therefore, it is imperative that you become knowledgeable about what works and what doesn’t.

Without an adequate supply of protein our bodies cannot support any muscle growth; therefore, a steady supply of quality protein should be consumed throughout the day at regular intervals.

Complex carbohydrates, on the other hand, enable the body to handle heavy weight lifting. When absorbed by the body, carbohydrates are stored as glycogen. Once stored in the liver and muscles, your body resorts to the glycogen for energy. If not enough quality carbohydrates are consumed then the body resorts to other fuel sources and your body’s energy and protein levels become depleted as a result.
