Lifestyle And Nutrition Is Key

We are amazed at how many people do not equate their state of health to their current nutrition and exercise program. We believe that 95% of ailments are lifestyle related.

These lifestyle factors involve:

  • Mental Health - Negative thoughts only hurt you. Think ONLY positive thoughts!! For example: Holding a grudge is like taking poison yourself and expecting the other person to die!
  • Nutrition -Whole foods and natural supplements are vital to a healthy body. We recommend balanced meals that include:
  • Low Fat Protein: such as lean cuts of meat, skinless chicken, tuna, egg whites, non fat milk and cottage cheese, and pure whey protein powder. And remember that organic meat and wild fish is always your best choice!
  • Whole Fruits: which included any all fresh fruits, if using canned fruits you should make sure that it is not packed in syrup, only in it’s own juice.
  • Fibrous Vegetables: All non-starchy vegetables such as: carrots, celery, broccoli, all green leafy veggies, etc. Note: that starchy vegetables such as potatoes, corn, peas and yams are not included here.
  • Polyunsaturated Fats: small portions of flax seed oil, hemp seed oil, fish oil, walnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and Essential Fatty Acid supplements.
  • Monosaturated Fats: small portions of olive oil, peanut oil, avocado, olives, peanuts and peanut butter, almonds, pistachios and pecans.
  • Water: Water is one of the most important nutrients that most people do not take enough of. Proper hydration is key to muscular performance. We recommend that everybody drinks at least ˝ gallon or 2 liters of pure filtered water every day.
  • Eat Organic: And if at all possible try to eat only organic foods. Organic food is produced without added chemicals, pesticides, hormones, waxes and genetic modification. It always is the more healthy choice of food.
  • Avoid Most of The Time: sugary foods such as ice cream, candy, chocolate, pastries, cakes and sugary cereals. Processed white flour products, pizza, fried foods, soda, whole fat dairy foods, high fat meats like bacon, hot dogs, sausages, chips and alcoholic beverages.
  • Avoid AT ALL TIMES: For your own good health: hold ALL hydrogenated oils, shortening, solid vegetable fats, artificial ingredients and artificial sweeteners--PLEASE!
  • Meal Timing: Space your meals no more than four hours apart throughout the day, and consume one of your meals within one hour following your daily workout. For calorie intakes below 2,000 split your daily calories up into at least five meals per day – 3 main meals and 2 small snacks. For calorie intakes above 2,000 per day split your daily calories up into 6 meals per day; 3 main and 3 snacks.
  • Regular Exercise: exercising just 3-4 times a week will help you feel stronger, feel better, prevent injuries, help you move easier and increase your general sense of well being!
  • Adequate Rest –All adults should get at least 8 hours of sleep per night, and every hour you go to bed before midnight counts as two hours! Your body cannot perform or heal itself if it is exhausted.

Mitch & Julia’s Training Tip

It’s never too late to start a weight lifting program and a healthy diet. Healthy nutrition, weight training and light cardio can benefit anyone, no matter your sex or age.

Strength training helps build lean muscle and can help prevent or reduce the symptoms of osteoporosis, high cholesterol, adult onset of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and stress. Strong, lean muscles (this does not necessarily mean larger muscles) increase your body’s metabolism, thus helping with natural weight loss. Additional benefits of strength training just a few times a week are that you will feel stronger, feel better, help prevent injuries, move easier and increase your general sense of well being!
